Matt Damon is close to signing on to star in the big screen adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s novel "The Bourne Identity". If he signs, Damon will play a man who is awakes on an island, not knowing how he got there, and must save himself from his mysterious pursuers.

Damon’s friend, Ben Affleck may replace Harrison Ford, who recently turned down the role/s, as Jack Ryan in any future films based on Tom Clancy’s novels.

Despite her numerous comments to the contrary, Sharon Stone will be reprising her role as the murderous author Catherine Trammell, in Basic Instinct 2. However, don’t expect Michael Douglas to return.

Dustin Hoffman has a fight on his hands for the role of Liberace in the upcoming biopic on the flamboyant pianist. Both Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp are apparently very interested in the role.

Joining Angel star David Boreanaz in the upcoming film Valentine, will be Marley Shelton and Denise Richards. The film is about a nerd who returns (now handsome and successful of course) to murder the girls who made his life a living hell.

As eluded to last week, Sam Neill has signed on to star in Jurassic Park 3. The film will begin shooting later this month.

Gwyneth Paltrow looks like staring in director Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) new film How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, which centres around a guy who must stay in a relationship for at least 10 days in order to win a bet.

Confirmation has come that there will be, as everyone had already guessed, a sequel to the teenage gross out comedy, American Pie. No script has been written as of yet.

Warner Bros. will turn all seven of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books (not all have been released yet) into big screen films, at least according to British site Teletext.

Aussie Adam Garcia has won a role in Penny Marshall’s new film Riding In Cars With Boys, which will also star Drew Barrymore and Steve Zahn.
