PREVIEW THOUGHTS: Ever since The Full Monty gained phenomenal critical and box office success back in
1997, we have been bombarded with offbeat British comedies looking to recapture the the
same success. This film appears to be another in the long list and watching the
preview for this film does nothing to make you think that this film will be anything
special. About a Pakistani father and his desire for his kids to adhere to the
traditional Pakistani values (something that the kids want to have nothing off), East is
East may deliver a few laughs but looms as another in the line of pointless comedies that,
unfortunately, the British film industries continues to churn out. They would be
better advised to stop trying to make more "Full Monty" type movies and start to
deliver more unique film like the excellent Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. British
comedy films have become very dull and it's doubtful that this film will be any
different. NOTE: Yes, that is a dog humping the letter "E" in the poster. Should tell you something about the standard of this film. |
